Students in Grades 6-12 use Canvas to view and submit assignments and other educational materials. Student Life activities and reminders about school events or requirements are also posted and shared with students via Canvas.
Parents can create observer accounts with their student, so they can view everything the student can see and be able to monitor their child’s work on Canvas.
Canvas is only available in grades six through 12.
Canvas is a Learning Management System or LMS. An LMS serves as a platform for teacher and students to work together online. Teachers can post assignments, create discussion boards, upload content like PowerPoints and instructional videos. For students, Canvas creates a one stop shop for all their courses; organizing their assignments, giving them a single calendar for due dates, being able to review content posted by teachers, and even submit assignments online. Union offers Canvas to all teachers and students and its use is expanding quickly. Infinite Campus (Union’s Student Information System or SIS) is still the official place for Grades and Attendance at Union.
