Union 6th/7th Grade Centers Will Be Ready For School Despite Construction

When Union Public Schools starts classes on Thursday, Tammy Ward and the staff at Union’s 6th/7th Grade Center will be ready. Even if it means being in the middle of a construction zone.
“Right now, it looks a lot worse than it is,” Ward, the principal, said with a smile.
In February 2023, voters passed a bond issue that included $51.6 million budgeted for the Union 6th/7th Grade Center, which, in addition to widespread renovation, includes updating the HVAC system throughout the building, improving the cafeteria, adding a seventh grade gymnasium that will double as a storm shelter, and adding some new locker rooms and practice areas.
