Students in Union's R.I.S.E (Ready, Independent, Skilled, Empowered) Program are enjoying their new home next to the Union Alternative School, a large spacious room modeled after an apartment.

The apartment features a kitchen area and other amenities designed to familiarize the individuals with disabilities with skills and a new environment as they transition into adulthood.

The creation of the R.I.S.E. program was made possible by the passage of a new Oklahoma law that allows special needs students to stay in school, working on transition skills, until the age of 22.
