Teacher Of The Year Spotlight: Alexandra Arias
Special education teacher Alexandra Arias was named Teacher of the Year for Roy Clark Elementary.
The most important thing Arias does as a teacher is helping students feel safe.
“I provide a safe learning environment where students can feel comfortable asking questions and taking risks so they can grow academically and socially,” Arias said.
She said, “I teach in Oklahoma because I want to provide our students with the skills to make a positive impact on our community.”
Arias started teaching in Florida in 2008 and joined Union Public Schools in 2019.
Educational background:
- Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a minor in English for Speakers of Other Languages from Florida Atlantic University
- Master’s Degree in Special Education from Northcentral University
Certifications:
- Elementary Education
- English Language Learner
- Special Education (Mild to Moderate)
Note: She is looking into pursuing an educational diagnostician certification to add to her master’s degree in Special Education.
The District Teacher of The Year will be announced during a planned professional development and celebration on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Union Performing Arts Center.
