Darnaby Families,
December is a month of caring and at Darnaby Elementary we are putting this character pillar into action. Darnaby Student Council is partnering with the Salvation Army again this year to sponsor a toy drive. Please help children across the greater Tulsa area have a more enjoyable holiday experience, by providing new and unwrapped toys. Donation bins are located in the Darnaby Media.
Darnaby has been fortunate to partner with outside volunteers and agencies that exemplify a caring spirit to our students and families. These partnerships have never been more important than they are today. We would like to thank Faith United Methodist Church who has been one such partner, providing a twin sized bed with frame, boxed springs, mattress and sheets to any child who does not have a bed of their own. Faith United Methodist gives so much to our school community, including volunteers that work with students as academic support as well as mentors. These volunteers and others are helping to make our Darnaby and YOU! initiative a success. We are working in collaboration with Reading Partners and the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance to provide mentors to students in both Reading and Math. If you would like to make a difference in the life of a child and give your time as a mentor, please use this link to sign up as a Reading Partner or Math Mentor.

Clothing Closet at Caring Center South provides gently used clothing, coats, shoes and new underwear and socks for both students and adults. Backpack 4 Kids program helps to feed students and families in need. CREOKS Behavioral Health Services provides weekly on-site counseling services to students and families. Union's Career Connect students are helping to provide "Bikes for Kids", so that some of our students can be sure to have a bike of their own.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Union Schools Education Foundation for their incredible generosity in supporting our school. Thanks to their contribution, Mrs. Marshall, Darnaby’s GATE teacher, now has the tools to transform her classroom into an inspiring MakerSpace where students can bring their ideas to life through hands-on exploration and innovation. Additionally, Mrs. Buck received materials through this grant that have greatly enhanced the use of sensory tools in her classroom. These tools are designed to help students become more independent in managing stress, sustaining attention, and improving overall engagement, enabling them to regulate their emotions and physical responses in ways that support their learning. These contributions will have a lasting impact on our students, empowering them to innovate, manage challenges, and thrive in their educational journey. We are truly grateful for the Foundation’s commitment to fostering excellence and opportunity within our school community.
Cub Scout Pack 970 and our Girl Scouts regularly volunteer their services, including Eagle Scout candidate, Devin Blackwell completing a bench project in the Serendipity. The Schusterman Foundation continues to contribute to our school and district to support our implementation of Project Lead the Way.
We have also collaborated with The Assistance League of Tulsa, who puts on the Operation School Bell Event at Wal-Mart each year. Our families were able to shop for essential clothing items. We are also grateful to Anthem Church who helped us provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need.
Don't forget our very own Darnaby PTA, that works tirelessly to provide for our students, staff and families.
Thank you to all of our fabulous partners for all that you do to make Darnaby such a caring place to be, including our Corporate and Alumni donors whose support help to make programming possible at Darnaby!
