Diana Irick named State PE Teacher of the Year

Originally posted August 14, 2015

Congratulations to Jefferson PE teacher Diana Irick on being named Oklahoma Teacher of the Year for Elementary Physical Education by the Oklahoma Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreations, and Dance.

She will be recognized this October at the annual OAHPERD convention at the University of Central Oklahoma.

“We are so proud of Coach Irick. She is a strong support of health and exercise and we appreciate all that she does for Jefferson and Union Public Schools,” Principal Kim Rampey said.

On Sunday, August 9, Irick was awarded “P.E. Teacher of the Game” at the Tulsa Shock game vs. Atlanta Dream. Coach Irick was nominated by parent submissions for her creativity and excellence in incorporating health and nutrition into P.E. activities.

In 2014, thanks to Irick’s leadership, Jefferson was named a Certified Healthy School by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Certified Healthy Schools, a program of the Shape Your Future campaign, recognizes schools that make a positive impact on the health of their students.
