Dr. Todd Nelson

Senior Executive Director of Research, Design, and Assessment

Dr. Todd Nelson has been with Union Public Schools since 1999.  He began his work in the district as a mathematics teacher at the 8th Grade Center.  He had served Union as math curriculum specialist and executive director of Student Achievement prior to his current role as senior executive director of Research, Design, and Assessment.  

Nelson has participated on many committees for state standards and assessment development. Serving as a consultant for schools and educational agencies, Nelson has periodically coordinated and trained teachers across the state in curriculum and instructional practices. He has been asked to present before legislative groups and business coalitions on assessment and instructional issues.

Completing undergraduate studies in Minnesota and Indiana, Nelson earned a master’s degree from the University of Tulsa and doctor of education degree from the University of Oklahoma.  He is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development as well as the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.  He and his wife, Rachelle, have three children, all of whom are Union graduates.
