Mission Statement

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Visit the Oklahoma Special Olympics website.

Union Special Olympics is for Everyone

Watch as student partners, athletes, parents and teachers with Union Public Schools' Special Olympics team speak about the benefits of this inclusive program, and see how students of all abilities are finding a special place where everyone belongs.

Union Special Olympics gives students with cognitive disabilities, ages 8–22, the opportunity to participate in athletic competitions across the state. With the support of the Union Special Olympics Booster Club and the Union Schools Education Foundation, these events not only promote teamwork and athletic growth, but also help families build lasting connections.

Our athletes are cheered on by peers, teachers, and the entire Union community. At Union Public Schools, we believe every student deserves the chance to shine! Want to get involved or support our mission?

Reach out to Tina Vollmer—vollmer.tina@unionps.org or Lauren Crow—crow.lauren@unionps.org. Together, we’re creating opportunities for every athlete to feel valued, connected, and celebrated!
