Bond 2026 Update

Dear Union Patrons,
As our world continues to change at a dizzying pace, Union Public Schools is committed to creating programming that will prepare our children with the education and training to be successful. Of course, none of this happens without terrific teaching and facilities aligned to meet that need. At Union, we pride ourselves on being responsible stewards of public dollars, ensuring we use resources and facilities wisely while providing our students with the best possible opportunities.
None of this happens by accident. We work closely with our Long-Range Planning Committee, which is made up of community members from each of our five board zones, in addition to teachers, district leadership and support staff. Ultimately, this committee makes recommendations to our Board of Education about which items will go into our next bond package.
Our Kids Are Worthy.
Your ongoing support of Union’s bond campaigns is confirmation that our students are worthy of the investment we are making in their future. It’s evident when we look at the five seniors who were named National Merit Finalists or the 137 students in the last five years who have graduated with an associate degree alongside their Union diploma. It’s reflected in the 23 Valedictorians and 29 Salutatorians in Union High School’s “Class of 2025,” or Darnaby Elementary’s robotics team who were named state champions at the VEX IQ State Competition in March.
Union continues to adapt to the changing needs of our community and students. The transformation of our 6th & 7th Grade Center is well underway. We are deeply invested in student engagement and developing new programming – including the expansion of our construction and aerospace academies, and new medical and Future Educator academies – providing our students with even more pathways to success.
This is an exciting time for students and teachers at Union Public Schools! I hope you enjoy this progress report covering Year 3 of this bond and the many positive changes just around the corner.
Sincerely,
John Federline, Ed.D., Superintendent
