Our mission is to graduate 100 percent of our students, college and career ready.

Bond 2025 Update

Dear Union patrons,

John-Federline

“Our Kids Are Worthy.” Your ongoing support of Union’s bond campaigns is confirmation of what we have long known to be true: our students are worthy of the investment we are making in their future. Please know that goes well beyond mere brick-and-mortar buildings and the purchase of software. The real substance of that investment is manifested in high levels of student performance and engagement that are capturing national attention.

Last year, six seniors were named National Merit finalists. Since the inception of the EDGE (Earn a Degree, Graduate Early) program, 105 students have graduated with their associate's degree, and we recently added an eighth cohort of students. Our Strategic Plan for 2023-2028 continues to guide the way as we provide students with new pathways for college and career exploration.

In addition to a new aerospace program, Union recently partnered with the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology and Hardesty Family Foundation to expand our high school construction academy to include courses on electrical construction and air conditioning/refrigeration for up to 15 hours of college credit.

Your approval in February 2023 of a $152 million multi-year bond has put us in a position to move the district forward. Many projects have been completed, others are in progress, and work is already underway on the transformation of the Union 6th/7th Grade Center.

I am happy to report that the district’s net assessed value increased 5.79 percent in 2024 to $1.094 billion. Because of this growth, we can choose to accelerate our bond sales, providing earlier access to the $152 million in funds approved by voters in 2023. This is especially important due to inflation and the higher cost of construction, helping us keep projects on schedule.

This is an exciting time for students and teachers at Union Public Schools! I hope you enjoy this progress report covering Year 2 of this bond and the many positive changes that will give our students even more educational opportunities. Students, “U Are Worthy.”

Sincerely,
John Federline, Ed.D., Superintendent
