5031 Graduation Requirements and GPA Calculation

A.    All courses taken for high school credit will be included on the student transcript. Courses taken in grades 9-12 will be considered when calculating the grade point average (GPA), except when excluded under the Grade Forgiveness provision in section B.

B.    Grade Forgiveness

1.    A student may elect to retake a complete, credit-bearing course to pursue grade forgiveness. The
course must be taken through regular, in-person instruction. It may occur during the regular school year, summer school, or an equivalent option offered by the district.
2.    Upon successful completion of the retake course with a passing grade, the student may request grade forgiveness through the office of the principal, counselor, or registrar. Upon request, the original course and grade will remain on the transcript, but a “#” symbol will be added to indicate that the grade is not to be used in the calculation of the student’s GPA. The course and grade from the retake course will be recorded on the transcript in the semester the course was taken and will be included in the calculation of the student’s GPA.
3.    Grade forgiveness may be used only once per course. All attempts of coursework remain visible on the official transcript for transparency and verification of complete academic history.

C.    Students may receive weighted grades for courses that qualify in the determination of class rank according to the provisions of Policy 5032.

D.    Courses taken for high school credit in grades 7-8 will be listed on the student transcript as a letter grade but will not be considered when calculating the grade point average (GPA).
E.    Students must meet all graduation requirements as defined by Oklahoma State Law and the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
