4014 Salary Adjustment for Approved Higher Education Credit
A. For certified and administrative employees, graduate hours or undergraduate hours earned after a bachelor’s degree may be credited toward an increase in professional status, providing the undergraduate hours were required for the completion of additional certification or higher degree obtained after the bachelor’s degree was received. The employee must show proof of additional certification to be eligible for a salary adjustment that counts undergraduate courses.
For the purpose of advancement to teacher pay scales pursuant to educational level, official transcripts must be submitted to the Human Resources Department prior to September 1 of the school year. Completion of course work during a contract year will not be approved until the next contract year.
Hours to be counted for a program must be credited by an approved college or university. Hours above a master’s degree must be taken for graduate credit after the master’s is completed.
B. For support employees, when grade advancement is specifically tied to achievement of college hours on the applicable USPA pay schedule, transcripts must be submitted to the Human Resources Department prior
to September 1 of the school year. If the September 1 deadline is not met, grade advancement will not be approved until the next contract year. Pay increase due to grade advancement will be applied going forward, but will not be retroactive.
Support employees and support associate employees who receive, after being employed with the district, a bachelor’s, associate’s, master’s, or doctorate degree (from an accredited college or university) in an area specifically related to current job functions or related to a job function of another position within the district may be considered for advancement on the salary schedule. The appropriate form and official transcript(s) must be received by the Executive Director of Human Resources prior to September 1 of the school year. If salary advancement is determined to be warranted, pay increase will be applied going forward, but will not be retroactive.
Hours to be counted for grade and/or salary advancement must be credited by an approved college or university.
