Secondary Counseling Services

Our Mission

The mission of Union Public School’s counseling program is to help students realize their academic potential by providing personal and social support in addition to college and career planning. The program promotes a culture of inclusiveness and equality while encouraging personal growth so that all students are empowered to be responsible and productive members of society. Counselors strive to remove barriers to student learning by collaborating with families, educators and the community in order to graduate 100% of our students, college and/or career ready.

Role of the School Counselor

School counselors are educators uniquely trained in child and adolescent development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills who understand and promote success for today’s diverse students. Counselors provide education, prevention and intervention activities which are integrated into all aspects of students’ lives. Counselors work with students to help develop their knowledge, attitudes and skills for academic, career and personal/ social development, which serve as the foundation for future success.

Accessing the School Counselor

Parents, students, school staff and administration may submit a referral regarding personal, social or academic concerns at any time. Parents should call/e-mail to schedule an appointment. Students may sign up to see their counselor in their respective offices. Matters of urgency will be given priority.

Counselor Contact

In order to personalize the educational experience of all students, counselors and administrators will follow each graduating class, progressing from 6th to 7th grade, 8th to 9th grade and 10th through 12th grade. Individual Ccunselors and contact information are located on the main web page for each school.

United Way Campaign

Once again, September will be a “Month of Giving” at Union Public Schools. We appreciate the generosity of Union students, families, teachers and staff as we raise funds for the 59 partner agencies of the Tulsa Area United Way. Thank you for joining in the fun as we support the United Way’s mission of uniting people and resources to improve lives and build a stronger community.

September is School Attendance Awareness Month

School spirit is a commitment. It requires that you be here, body and soul. Without a strong base, the pyramid falls apart. It’s the same in life. Going to class every day is important. Ten unexcused absences cancel your performance. Absence is the spirit-killer. A crowd-pleasing routine is more than just showing up . . . but it’s a great place to start. #UBeThere #ReptheU

New website

Union Public Schools has a new website! We are pleased to work with our new provider Gabbart Communications. While it is a brand-new website, we have purposely designed it to be familiar. So most items will be found in the places in which you are accustomed to finding them. We are continuing to refine the site and more features, such as video, are coming. If you have a comment, please email us.
