Rosa Parks Elementary – Sidney Webb, pre-kindergarten
Pre-kindergarten teacher Sidney Webb has been named the Teacher of the Year at Rosa Parks Elementary School.
Why did Webb become a teacher? “My love for children and learning!” she answers. “I have always loved children and I have always love school so I could not think of a more perfect profession.”
Webb started teaching right after she graduated from the University of Oklahoma at Tulsa in 2012. “I did my full student internship at Rosa Parks Early Childhood Education Center, and they offered me a job. I felt at home at Union Public Schools, and I felt blessed to have such a great opportunity. I knew it was the right fit for me.”
How is teaching going for you this year?
“Every year presents itself with new challenges, but it is something I thrive on,” Webb said. “It allows me to make goals and challenges my skills in innovative thinking and problem solving. It gives me an opportunity to challenge my research skills and implement new strategies to increase my knowledge as a professional and educator. I truly believe the attitude and disposition you have will predict your outcome. I believe if you have a positive outlook and attitude, it will set you up for success in everything, including your classroom. I have an amazing group of students and I have already witnessed progress in multiple domains. I can’t wait to see how each child blossoms over the year.”
