Jefferson Teacher of the Year

Jefferson Elementary – Victoria Olsen, Media Specialist Media specialist Victoria Olsen has been named Jefferson Elementary’s Teacher of the year for 2019-2020. She has been with Union and Jefferson since 2013. “I originally became a teacher because I have always loved working with kids,” Olsen said. “I have a passion for helping children learn to be independent, lifelong learners. After six years in the classroom, I decided to become the librarian at my school because I’ve found a specific passion in helping my students find a love for reading. I also wanted to embrace the new roles of media specialists as a collaborator with teachers and makerspace director.”   As the librarian, she loves helping students find a love for reading through exciting book displays, lively ‘read alouds’, and enticing book talks. “Helping students find books they love brings me so much joy!” Educational background: College: Oral Roberts University Degree: Elementary Education Concentration: Early Childhood Education Minor: Spanish Currently working on my masters in Library, Media & Information Technology at Northeastern State University

Teacher Job Fair March 28

Job Fair

Union Public Schools will host a Teacher Job Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 28 at Ellen Ochoa Elementary School, 12000 E. 31st Street. No appointments are necessary. Download flyer.

Staff will be available to interview qualified applicants and make employment offers on-site. Interested candidates may apply early online at www.unionps.org/careers and create their application under “Job Fair.”
