Career Connect Offerings

The Union Career Connections program offers a variety of classes or programs designed to help young people connect with a career they are interested in pursuing.

Students meet at the High School each week (5th & 6th Hour) with a TCC Instructor.

The first semester consists of Manufacturing (Safety & Quality Training) curriculum through TCC.  Students must also pass the WorkKeys Test. 2nd Semester, students may have the potential for paid internships. Full time employment is a possibility upon graduation for seniors. Drug testing will be required for a paid position. Students must be 18 years old for this program.

Career ConnectAutomotive Technician Internship

Students can enroll in either of three blocks:

It is open to juniors and seniors.

One of our partners, the City of Tulsa provides aprons and steel toed boots.  Students, working with the City of Tulsa, will learn how to write tickets for work orders, issue parts, and shadow on the floor.  During this time, they will also be eligible to take all of the on-line classes for Ford Certification and International Fleet Certification.  There are still physical classes required to complete certification.

During the second semester there is an opportunity for paid positions after school and for summer.  Full time employment is a possibility upon graduation for seniors. Drug testing will be required for a paid position.

Associated Builders and Contractors Internship

The Associated Builders and Contractors will offer construction internships that will be available to juniors and seniors.  Office placements, electrician apprenticeships, plumbing, HVAC, and general contracting placements are available to students with their own transportation second semester.

General Service Learning

Union also offers placements in

  • IT (High School)
  • Peer Tutor (Freshman Academy)
  • Peer Tutor (High School)

If students can secure their own placement at any district site or with a company/community service organization, they are welcome to enroll in Service Learning. However, students must complete an application and then visit with their counselor with the completed application. This is a great opportunity to job shadow and explore career options. Students must remember if a placement requires leaving campus, transportation arrangements must be made.

Career Fair

Each year, Union Career Connect hosts a career fair in the fall. Announcements will be made in our news section. Vendors who wish to participate may contact [email protected]/

Career Partners/Business Partner Campus Visits

Throughout the year, businesses will be providing presentations typically in the Grand Hall, and these will be handled like university visits.  Students should watch the scrolling announcements and check Facebook Union College/Careers for announcements.  Also, please remind students to check their email account regularly.  Students who want to attend will sign up for all presentations through Naviance

Military Careers

Military recruiters from all four branches will be doing open forum visits on selected dates.  This will be publicized via Facebook/Twitter, scrolling announcements, and emails.  Students can sign up for these general informational sessions on Naviance.

General Job Counseling

Students who are not on a traditional college track may contact the counselors for advisement.
