Daily Covid-19 Case Counts
The information displayed is a daily running total. Cases will roll on and off as affected people go on/off quarantine or isolation. On the first day of school (Aug. 24, 2020), 10 students self-reported as Covid-positive and 25 were in quarantine due to close contact and did not report to their school site. Similarly, six district employees were Covid-positive and 10 in quarantine due to close contact on Aug. 24, 2020. Like a Daily Absence Report, this report shows all reported cases among students and district staff. It does not necessarily mean they exposed others at a school or other district site.
When a student or staff member reports they have tested positive for COVID-19, a district contact tracer interviews them to determine the date of the test sample and the first date of any signs or symptoms. That determines the infectious period and then the contact tracer works through any ON-CAMPUS close contacts (within 6 feet of the Covid-positive person for over 15 minutes during the infectious period) so that appropriate self-quarantines can be assigned.
When students or staff members report they were close contacts on or off-campus of persons who tested positive, a district contact tracer works with them as needed to determine their self-quarantine period. District ordered self-quarantines only apply to someone who is a close contact of a positive case, not "close contacts of close contacts" or other secondary vectors.
