Union High School business teacher Natasha Smith has been named a New Teacher of the Year for the Business, Marketing and IT division of the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technical Education (OKACTE).
Smith, who has been teaching five years, is completing her third year with Union High School, where she teaches multimedia and web design and serves as an advisor for the Union chapter of Business Professionals of America. She has been involved in career technical education for 10 years, - five as a CTE student and five as a CTE educator. Smith has also been heavily involved in Business Professionals of America for the past 10 years, and serves as a vice chairperson on the National Board of Trustees for Business Professionals of America
“I am excited to received this honor. I am one of seven divisional NTOYs that were named,” Smith said. “Along with the other six candidates, I am up for consideration for the State OKACTE New Teacher of the Year.”
High School Class Principals John Chargois and Marla Robinson said Smith is more than deserving of this honor, and Lisa Witcher, senior executive director of Instructional Services, said, “Natasha Smith deserves thanks for giving all her energy to her discipline and her kids.”
