Boevers Elementary – Kaylisa Orman, fifth grade
Fifth grade teacher Kaylisa Orman was named Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023 at Boevers Elementary School.
“I love teaching reading and book clubs,” Orman said. “There are so many opportunities for students to go places they normally wouldn’t be able to. Watching them share and discuss with others about the books they are reading and why they should read them makes my heart light up. Reading books are great, but you get so much more out of it when you can share your thoughts and ideas with others about what you read about.”
Orman started teaching right after she graduated in 2017 and began at Union in 2018. “I started halfway through the year at Grove Elementary and was transferred to Boevers the next year.”
Orman said, “I continue to work in Oklahoma for the kids. My Title 1 students need consistency, structure, and engaging learning. I love building relationships with my students and teaching them how to be an advocate for themselves and their education.”
Orman attended Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow and graduated the winter of 2017.
“I am certified in K-8 Elementary education and English as a Second Language. I have a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and look forward to continuing my education with a master’s degree in language arts,” she said.
