YouthArts!

Union Public SchoolsCreativity for more than 40 Years!

Union's Fine Arts Department proudly presents YouthArts!, an annual fine arts festival showcasing the creative works and talents of elementary and secondary students.

YouthArts! is one of the longest running festivals of its type in the state of Oklahoma. In fact, it is celebrating its 41st anniversary in the spring of 2020 and the 100th year of Union Public Schools. YouthArts! was founded by Ed Tackett, now retired director of Fine Arts, and has grown immensely over the years.

Under the direction of the district's 50-plus fine arts teachers, the multi-day event is scheduled in late April and includes a variety of performances and exhibitions all open to the public. Those include:

  • Combined Elementary Choir Concert
  • High School Repertory Theater Production
  • One Act Play Festival
  • Visual Arts Exhibition
  • Secondary Vocal Music Concerts
  • Competitive Speech Exhibit
  • High School Orchestra Concert
  • Secondary Band Concerts
  • High School Jazz Band Concert
  • Winterguard Performance

Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Heritage Month is also an opportune time to educate the general public about tribes, to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.
