Jefferson Elementary prides itself on being a leader in the area of health and physical wellness. As a recipient of the Schools for Healthy Lifestyles Grant in 2011, we are continually developing strategies to increase health and physical activity. We have seen an increase in daily attendance and Outside of School Time Programs, academic knowledge in health education, and an increase in physical endurance. Our school has grown in student participation in Outside of School programs, resulting in a more well-rounded education. As a result, our families are more involved in the learning opportunities offered at school.
Enrichment activities
As a Community School, we also provide after school enrichment activities.
• Service Learning (Campfire USA, Cooking Club, Recycling Club)
• Physical & Recreational Activities (Milers, Soccer, Cup Stacking, Yoga)
• Art/Fine Arts Enrichment (Hip Hop, Art Club, ORFF, Jazz)
• STEM Enrichment (Robotics, Computer Coding, Medical School, Sewing)
• Academic Tutoring
Jefferson participates in the The Center for Community Schools Strategies - Community Service Council. The community school’s philosophy supports school personnel, parents, neighbors and community partners working together so our children can participate in a strong instructional program by living and learning in safe and supportive environments.
