Month of Giving

Month of Giving

Dear Union Employees,

Dr. Kirt HartzlerThis is the time of year when we traditionally embrace our “Month of Giving” through the generous contributions made by our employees to the Tulsa Area United Way’s (TAUW) annual campaign.  Last year, for the first time, we expanded our giving to include our own Union Schools Education Foundation (USEF).  Together, we raised a grand total of $232,334.62 during the Month of Giving, an increase of $10,975 over the previous year.

This year is presenting new challenges, but we have heard from many site principals and employees that there is still a desire to participate in the Month of Giving. I recognize that our staff has been working tirelessly in response to the safety and learning needs of our students during this pandemic. For that reason, we have made the decision to limit our Month of Giving activities to only pledge cards this year.

In the next couple of days, you will be receiving your Month of Giving pledge card. Once again, you will have the option to donate to the Tulsa Area United Way, USEF, or both organizations. Since we are eliminating all special events this year, I encourage you to consider contributing the amount you would have given, inclusive of your pledge and the dollars contributed through special events. That way, we can continue to support the fine work of both non-profit organizations without a negative impact on their already limited budgets.

Here is a link to the United Way’s campaign videos, as they continue to do vital work in our community.  For those wanting to know more about the Union Schools Education Foundation, I encourage you to visit https://unionfoundation.org or watch their new video. Your contributions to USEF will be even more important this year, as it looks unlikely that we will have a live Dinner and Auction event in the spring.

My hope is that we will be able to return to the fun activities of our more traditional campaign in 2021. In the meantime, thank you for your generosity!

Sincerely,

Kirt Hartzler,
Ed.D.
Superintendent
