Students and teachers from the Union 6th7th Grade Center attended the University of Tulsa’s Native American STEM Competition and Teacher Conference on Thursday.
This event’s purpose was to get more Native American students involved in STEM. Students learned about science, technology, engineering, and math as they competed in teams of five. The STEM challenges included an egg drop, a scavenger hunt, a slingshot, a car challenge, as well as a math challenge and a crypto challenge.
One group of students, including Hannah Wright, Emma Hines, Colten Perrier, Brody Boyd, and Carter Edwards, won third place in the coed division.
