For the 30th year in a row, the Finance Division for Union Public Schools received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report for 2020-2021.
The GFOA certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government agency and its management.
The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
“I’m happy to report that Union has won the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association for 30 years in a row,” said Chief Financial Officer Trish Williams.
Williams said the honor is shared by the team of personnel working together in the finance department including Rebecca Byers, director of financial reporting/treasury; Julie Harkrider, director of accounting; and Sherri Fair, director of federal programs, and all of their staff.
Earlier this year, Union’s Finance Division received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for 31 years in a row!
