Union Senior Emma Plunkett entered her art in the Sutton Art contest - a state-wide contest with prizes for 3D, 2D, and photography - and her coral piece took first place. This honor comes with a $1000 cash prize. She also earned money for her art teacher, Kimberly Smart.
Said proud mom, Emily Lim, who gave permission to post photos and the story, said, "The award ceremony was virtual. The best part was listening to the juror, an art professor from OSU, talk about her art. He really noticed her technique, creativity and skill. She also submitted an essay along with her art. The essay was 1/3 of the score. As a parent, it was so wonderful to listen to a professional artist discuss your child's talent and skill!"
