A Healthy Environment Is Great for Learning and Working!
Developing an optimal learning environment for students begins with a focus on faculty and staff quality. Union Public Schools is an organization that values excellence and strives to provide benefits and a working environment for all employees to recruit, hire and retain the best staff possible.
A healthy and productive workforce invested in wellness provides good role models for students and contributes to organizational efficiency. Since our district offers a self-insured PPO plan for employee health insurance, lower health care costs directly contribute to the resources available for the district’s main mission – the education of our students. That is why Union Public Schools has developed partnerships to support the health and wellness of our employees.
Get Healthy with The Y at Union
Union Public Schools has partnered with the YMCA of Greater Tulsa to manage the Wellness Center at the UMAC, bringing with it fun-filled, health-enhancing opportunities for you and the whole family! See The Y at Union web page.
Besides expert instruction on the UMAC’s top-notch equipment, the climbing wall, and temperature-controlled indoor walking track, the Y at Union is offering free onsite classes, workshops, activities, and programs. As an added bonus, full- and part-time Union employees may upgrade their Y at Union membership to the Metro Y membership at a specially discounted rate*!
In continuing our emphasis on staff health and wellness, Union is very proud of our partnership with OU Physicians Tulsa providing a Clinic for Union’s over 2,000 employees and their covered dependents.
The Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline can help you reach your goal to quit tobacco. It’s a free service for all Oklahomans. When you make the free call, you’ll talk with a trained Quit Coach who has helped hundreds of people quit. Together, you’ll create a quit plan just for you.
Studies show smokers who use a helpline are four times more likely to quit than if they try to quit on their own.
Friendly Quit Coaches also offer support if tough times arise and you’re tempted to slip.

District Wellness Policy
District Wellness Policy
Union Public Schools recognizes the relationship between academic achievement and student health and wellness. Union has developed a District Wellness Policy that guides the health and wellness activities, foods, and nutrition and physical education provided by the District for students and staff. We have a District Wellness Council that is responsible for reviewing, updating and evaluating the implementation of the Wellness Policy. If you would like to participate in this Council, please contact Lisa Griffin at 918-357-6132. View the assessment of implementation of the District Wellness Policy at each school site.
