The 2009 Union Schools Education Foundation Dinner and Auction is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at the Radisson Hotel Tulsa. Registration and a silent auction for the adults-only event begins at 6 p.m. Dinner is set for 7:30 p.m., with the auction to follow.
The annual event is the Foundation’s largest fund raiser and benefits teachers, programs, and sites through grants awarded to teachers. It provides opportunities where funding is not available otherwise. Last year, 44 grants totaling $32,323.16 were awarded to teachers at 15 of the district’s 19 sites.
“Putting on the Glitz” will feature hundreds of donated items. Schools are helping with the effort by creating baskets, making announcements, or making something special that can be auctioned off. The Foundation is also contacting community members, corporations, and businesses about donations of large items such as jewelry, furniture, car leases, and more.
