ESPNU host to speak at Rogers State banquet
CLAREMORE, Okla. — An ESPN anchor who grew up in Oklahoma will return to the state for the Rogers State University Athletics Banquet.
Officials said Wednesday Dari Nowkhah will speak at the April 25 event.
Athletic Director Ryan Bradley says Nowkhah's time at ESPN has given him a unique perspective on college athletics.
Nowkhah is the host of ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network in Charlotte, N.C. The Tulsa native also is co-host of ESPN Radio's weekly Dari and Mel Show with Mel Kiper Jr.
Nowkhah joined ESPN in 2004 after working at Tulsa's CBS affiliate, KOTV, as a sports anchor and reporter for two years.
He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1998 with a degree in broadcast journalism and is a graduate of Tulsa Union High School.
