Piano, guitar at Clark
November 12, 2009
by Shanda Sullivan, 5th Grade Teacher, Roy Clark Elementary
Clark’s before-and-after school programs are in full swing, including the Piano Lab and Guitar classes. (See related story.)
Piano lab is offered before and after school and the chosen students get to practice three times a week. Students practice using a program called Piano Wizard, which uses a special keyboard hooked up to a laptop computer. This enables the students to see the notes they are playing. The piano lab is monitored by Shelly Eulenfeld and Jessica Slater.
Guitar classes are held every Monday at Clark, 3656 S. 103rd e. Ave. Shelly Eulenfeld, Clark’s music teacher, leads the class. Every student has a guitar to practice their songs.
Funding for these programs are provided by Roy Clark, the Mayor’s Mentoring Initiative, the Assistance League and bond money.
