The presidential election of 2012 is in full swing at Andersen Elementary School, 1200 S. Willow. Enrichment students have been studying past presidents, First Ladies, and the election process, a study which will culminate in a mock election on November 6.
“We will begin this special day on November 6 at an assembly at 8:15 a.m. with High School football coach Kirk Fridrich speaking and the eighth grade drum line playing,” teacher Linda Snowbarger said. “All students will wear red, white and blue that day.”
To prepare for the election all kindergarten – fifth grade students have registered to vote, will receive a voter’s identification card and then go to the voting place a.k.a. ARC room, on November 6, to sign in, mark their ballot and receive an “I Voted” sticker. Pre-Kindergarten students will vote between apples and oranges. Winners will be announced at the end of the day.

Andersen ARC teacher, Linda Snowbarger, found her husband’s homework where he had answered that question 44 years ago. She thought it would be interesting to see what children today would say so she gave that assignment to her third grade students.
