College Tips of the Week
Scholarship Scams
The Federal Trade Commission cautions students to be on the look-out for these signs of a scholarship scam:
“This scholarship is guaranteed or your money back.”
“You can’t get this information anywhere else.”
“I just need your credit card number or bank account number to hold this scholarship.”
“We’ll do all the work.”
“The scholarship will cost some money.”
“You’ve been selected” by a “national foundation” to receive a scholarship. Or, “you’re a finalist” in a contest you never entered.
ACT News
The deadline to register for the December 8th ACT is this Friday, November 2nd. The cost of the ACT is $35.00 and students who are on free or reduced lunch qualify for two ACT waivers during their high school career. Students must sign up in the CCC for their waiver.
