Here lies the body of the old man… So began our days of being detectives in the English classroom. We started reading the story, The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe and solving the crime scene of one of the characters death at the same time. This way the students were engaged in the details of the story the whole way through. Eventually the details that we learned from the story and the crime scene led to a small trial for the main character in The Tell Tale Heart.
