Union Band Community,
As I'm preparing to head off to the UCA dedication and open house, it appears to me that it's a great time to reflect upon what we have here at Union. This is an amazing place with a supportive community, great students, outstanding facilities, and a dedicated commitment to excellence. Often I think that without perspective, many of our students have no idea that this doesn't exist everywhere. I sincerely hope that our students respect what they have, and not only appreciate what is available here, but also take advantages of the opportunities provided for them.
As we go out to our first contest this season, please represent Union well by not only cheering for our own students, but also supporting the students in other groups as well. Try and avoid being a negative critic! All the students at the contest Saturday are investing huge amounts of time, talent, sweat, and tears, so show your appreciation for their efforts! Remember, whether right or wrong, when you wear Union gear to an event, your words and actions decide what others' perception of our program is going to be. Let's make sure it's a positive one!
You'll see on the schedule that a Marine Jazz Ensemble is performing for us on Wednesday morning. Any band student is able to attend this performance, but they need to sign up by Monday at the latest in order to be excused for 2nd hour.

Tuesday, Sept 25 - Rehearsal 7am and Brass/Woodwind Sectionals
Wednesday, Sept 26 - Rehearsal 7am and Marine Jazz Ensemble Performance in Band Room I at 9:00am
Thursday, Sept 27 - Rehearsal 7am and Evening Rehearsal 4-8pm
Friday, Sept 28 - Rehearsal 8am and Pep Band A Game at Stillwater - Wear member shirt and jeans
4:30pm - Est. Departure from UHS - Eat provided meal on the bus
7:00pm - Kickoff
11:30pm - Est. Arrival home at UHS
Saturday, Sept 29 - Owasso Competition
10am-Noon - Rehearsal
Noon - Lunch and Load
1:30pm - Depart UHS
2:00pm - Arrive at Owasso and unload
2:45pm - Dress
3:00pm - Walking to warm-up
3:15pm - Warm-Up
4:15pm - Renegade Regiment Prelim Performance
5:30pm - Dinner
TBD - Dress
