The Peters Library will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays starting May 29. It will continue through July 19. Students will be able:

  • Come to the library and read
  • Hear stories at 11 a.m. during story time
  • Take Accelerated Reading tests on books they read during the summer
  • Check out one library book each day to take home to read
  • Participate in the Scholastic Summer Challenge & record their reading minutes on the computer

Students who read 60 minutes each day, 5 days each week for the 8 weeks of our reading program will reach the goal of 2,400 minutes. Those students reaching the goal by July 20 will earn a library buck to spend at the Fall Book Fair.

We have a reading goal for Peters Summer Reading of a total of 120,000 minutes. If we reach our goal, those students who help us reach our goal & reach their goal will earn another library buck for the October book fair.

Scholastic’s Reading Challenge continues on through to September 30. Students who continue to read and log their minutes will be eligible for prizes awarded by Scholastic.

Current pre-kindergarten through fourth grade students may sign up for the Summer Reading program at Peters. Please send the sign up form (see link above) to Kay Leslie. You may email here at leslie.kay@unionps.org. Or parents may come by and sign their student up on Tuesday, May 29 or Wednesday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. Parents must sign the form before a student can participate in the program.
