Yale student talks to Jefferson students about writing
Originally posted January 12, 2018
After Jefferson Elementary students' writings were featured in the Tulsa World over the holiday break, Yale University junior Leland Stange offered to talk to the students about writing. Stange, who is a writer for the Yale Daily News, talked to the students today about writing and his travels around the globe.
Stange, who graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, is home on holiday break.
Jefferson Elementary third graders had tackled the issues of the day: drugs, hunger and YouTube commercials as part of a unit on opinion writing. Teacher Annabelle Randall submitted samples from all four classes to the Tulsa World. They are presented here with only light editing.
Teachers said they were pleased with the opportunity for their students to hear from a writer and thankful for Stange volunteering his advice. The ooh's and ah's from students clinched it.
