38th annual YouthArts! Festival to feature Union creativity at its best

Union's Fine Arts Department proudly presents YouthArts!, an annual fine arts festival showcasing the creative works and talents of elementary and secondary students.
YouthArts! is one of the longest running festivals of its type in the state of Oklahoma, celebrating its 38th anniversary in the spring of 2017. It was founded by Ed Tackett, now retired director of Fine Arts, and has grown immensely over the years. The 2017 Festival will run from April 10-May 18. Download the schedule, posted on this page.
Under the direction of the district's 50-plus fine arts teachers, the multi-day event is scheduled in late April and includes a variety of performances and exhibitions all open to the public. Those include:
- Combined Elementary Choir Concert
- High School Repertory Theater Production
- One Act Play Festival
- Visual Arts Exhibition - this will run April 25-May 1
- Secondary Vocal Music Concerts
- Competitive Speech Exhibit
- High School Orchestra Concert
- Secondary Band Concerts
- High School Jazz Band Concert
- Winterguard Performance
STEM Expo featured as part of YouthArts!
Union Public Schools will host the 2nd Annual STEM Expo to feature the great work going on in kindergarten through 12th grade classrooms across the district. The event will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in the UMAC.
"We are hosting this event in conjunction with YouthArts' week-long visual arts exhibit, also in the UMAC," said Emily Lim, district STEM coordinator.
Come out and see interactive robots, hear poster presentations and see what our kids are learning in their Project Lead the Way curriculum.
