The Marine Biology classes at Union High School are involved in an exciting program very new to the Midwest called Trout in the Classroom (TIC). This program is very common in the eastern and western coastal states but was sponsored for its first time here in the Mid-west in Tulsa just last school year by the local chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU); they are a community group of fishermen and women that are very interested not only in fishing but also in the quality of the waters in our environment, in helping utilize these water resources respectfully and in helping students become more environmentally conscientious through programs like TIC.
Students in Roxan Hulsey's art history class dresses as famous artists or in well-known artistic styles as part of a project last week at the High School.
Hundreds of people participated in last week's free community festival at Hicks Park Community Center, 3433 S. Mingo Road, on Thursday, November 8, as part of a partnership between Union Public Schools and the city of Tulsa to revitalize the community center for East Tulsa.
