  • Rosa Parks choir performances set

    December 5, 2012
On Thursday, December 13, the Rosa Parks Choir will be singing at Trinity Episcopal Church at its Iron Gate lunch program. This program feeds a daily hot lunch to anyone who wants one.

"We sang for them last year and it was a huge success," music teacher Charles Johnston said.  "The interaction between our students -- many of whom really do face poverty every day -- and the guests at Iron Gate -- many of whom live in shelters or worse -- was heartwarming.  We will be singing from 9:30-10:30 a.m.".

The choir will be singing for the rest of our students at an assembly on December 20.

  • Impressive sewing

    December 3, 2012
Luke Gerhi, a student at the Alternative High School, made a tree skirt during Debbie Beattie's sewing class. He constructed this during one two-hour class period. I'm impressed. I cannot even sew a straight hem. Debbie Beattie, Alternative's TOY, has taught the students to not only sew, but also knit. Several people will be getting knitted scarves for gifts this holiday season. - teacher Melissa Wyatt

  • Jefferson collects cans for Heart Church

    November 30, 2012
Jefferson Student Council took advantage of Bedlam football this year with our annual food drive. Students voted for their favorite team each day as they added cans to OU or OSU boxes around the school. OU won in a landslide, but our community partner the HEART church was the real winner. All items were donated to their food pantry which directly benefits many families in our area. Way to go Jefferson Families!
