Union Varsity Highsteppers recently performed their signature routine “Oklahoma” in support of “Laps for Little Ones” for The Little Light House right here in Tulsa.
Freshmen Carli Williams, co-Captain of the JV Highsteppers, spent her summer giving back to the community. Carli taught dance classes at Remington Elementary school's summer program. Remington Elementary is a Title I school located in west Tulsa. The girls got the opportunity to perform for the school at the closing ceremony. The Union Highsteppers loaned costumes to the girls to wear for the performance. " This was an opportunity to provide these students enrichment in an area they are interested in. The girls were so proud to perform for their school. Carli built relationships and is a role model for the girls." commented Dr. Cassandra Funderburk, principal. Photo by Dee Williams

The theme for the fall fair was Here’s to our Heroes. A special hero, Deputy Anthony Jones of the Tulsa County Sheriffs depart came and read to the students. He also came one evening in his Marine uniform.
What’s the best thing to bring to school? Why it’s DAD! Cedar Ridge Kindergarten celebrated their annual Dad’s Day on Tuesday, October 19! Last week, the students worked hard preparing and making things for their dads. They shared donuts and juice, took dad on a tour of the school and listened to dad read to them. The rainy weather put a damper on the much anticipated Tug-o-war competition, but instead the hall was filled with kids cuddled up with Dad!
The Union 8th Grade Cheer Squad participated in the 2010 Buddy Walk supporting the National Down Syndrome Society. The girls volunteered Sunday and made some new friends.
Parents and students at Peters Elementary School on Monday enjoyed "A Salute to Broadway" directed by music teacher Sharon Beam featuring spry performances from third, fourth and fifth graders singing classic songs from "Grease" and "Oklahoma."
