    Fourth graders at Clark have just celebrated their first writing completion. Students have been working had studying Lucy Calkins’ Writer’s Workshop and it shows. The students were very proud to share their work with classmates and teachers.

  • Writing celebration

    Writing is a reason to celebrate in Brittany. Mason’s fifth grade classroom at Boevers Elementary, 3433 South 133rd East Ave. Students have been working on stories and had a chance to share their work with classmates and parents during a writing celebration on Friday, October 29. Students and parents went around the room to read and write a comment about each student’s story.

  • Sixth graders versus teachers

    November 2, 2010

    Last Friday, students who contributed to a United Way cause got to watch as selected classmates faced off with their teachers in a basketball game. If the students won, they would get their pick of seats for lunch on Monday; if the teachers won, students were to get extra homework.

    Assistant Principal Jennifer Beer said, "It ended in a tie, so we had over time and the teachers won 30-28; however, I let Tyler Fletcher shoot a free throw, and I told the students if he makes it they win, and he made it.  Of course, the teachers are whining!!"
