Ice cream social brings families together

On Wednesday, October 26, the Rosa Parks Early Childhood Education Center hosted an ice cream social. As the families arrived they were given ice cream sandwiches to enjoy as they explored the art materials that were stationed throughout the room.

The entire school body at Cedar Ridge Elementary School on Friday, October 28, 2011, surrounded their school in a human chain, using drug-free pledge strips, themselves, and their Acts of Kindness strips for Red Ribbon Week and to raise awareness about the dangers of illegal drugs.

First, second and multi-age students - bedecked in their favorite storybook characters for today's Books Alive! - practice "Three Cheers for America" which they will peform for Veterans's Day on November 11 at Moore Elementary School.

High School drama takes second in state

Congratulations to the Union High School Repertory Theater whose performance of Macbeth last Friday, October 28, won second in the state competition at Edmond North Memorial High School. Union won first place regionally. Also congratulations to the Renegade Regiment and Boys Cross Country who also did well at state. ... more
Broadway comes to Cedar Ridge

Fifth graders at Cedar Ridge Elementary School entertained parents, schoolmates and teachers with an afternoon performance of their show - "Broadway Beat" on October 27, 2011, featuring selections from several well-known musicals such as Rent and Grease.

Spooky fun with science

An annual tradition at the High School, 6636 S. Mingo Road, chemistry teacher Penny Leary dressed up in costume today and wowed students with feats of science and chemistry, showing how different chemicals and agents create sparklers, smoke and fire. Pictures inside!
