November 16, 2010Jamie Harrisâ€™s Eary Childhood Center students have been practicing drawing our self portraits. The children were using the mirrors to look at themselves. They also practiced holding a marker, and drawing circles and lines. Teachers and students had several discussions about what faces look like and how they are all different. more
November 16, 2010Camryn Coxâ€™s Early Childhood Center students learned how to use the glue using baby, momma, and papa bear dots. They also learned where and how to put art creations away on the drying rack. Each student is given a rack with their picture and name. more

November 15, 2010Last Friday, scores of students from the Alternative, Intermediate and High Schools dropped in on the 6th/7th Grade Center as part of the annual Drug-Free Youth Student Invasion, spearheaded by Student Assistant Programs corodinator Danny Williams, to talk to students about the important of not using drugs and alcohol.

Hereâ€™s what is going on so far this weekâ€¦Third grade is having a pioneer school day this Friday, the 19 (whole day), and fourth grade is having a Thanksgiving Readerâ€™s Theater in each classroom at 2:15 on Friday the 19th as well.Â Parents are invited to the Readerâ€™s Theater for 4th grade.Â
Peters is also raising money for Honor Flights, an organization that funds WWII veteransâ€™ trips to see the Memorial in Washington D.C.Â The next trip is in June.Â Donations are tax deductible and a group of WWII vets will be on hand on Friday, December 17th at 10 a.m.Â in Mrs. Kellerâ€™s room (116) to accept the donations.Â
Our class will also do a modified version of the WWII programâ€¦weâ€™re calling it a â€œLiving Museum of the 1940â€™sâ€� featuring portrayals of FDR, Harry Truman, Jackie Robinson, Rosie the Riveter, and of course the Swing Dancers from the 40â€™s, to name a few.

On Thursday, November 18t, pre-kindergarten students at Jarman (all 88 of them) have invited guests to join them in the cafeteria for a Thanksgiving meal served by Jarman Food Services. More turkeys need to be prepared as an additional 100 plus guests will be in attendance! The students are very excited to eat in the “big cafeteria” with their families and friends.
On Friday, November 19, our Kindergarten students will enjoy a mini-feast provided by the homeroom mothers in the afternoon. All in all, we will celebrate the Thanksgiving tradition going into next week and looking forward to 3 days off to spend with families and friends.
November 12, 2010Mackenzie Kulka, sophomore at Union Intermediate High School, is among 49 athletes from the United States that have earned the prestigious position on the World Age Group team that will represent the USA in Mertz, France, in November of 2010. more
