Alternative School to host forum June 26

Originally posted June 19, 2012

The Union Alternative School will host a forum at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 26.  Students in grades 9-12 who are interested in attending the Alternative School and currently live in the Union district are welcome to attend.

If you know of any students who appear to be appropriate candidates for alternative education, please encourage them to send in an application and attend this meeting. If at all possible, parents should accompany the students to this forum.

Applications are available on-line under Schools/Union Alternative Schools at www.unionps.org. (See also http://www.unionps.org/index.cfm?id=260)

At this forum, which will last for about 45 minutes, Principal Richard Storm will provide a great deal of general info about alternative education. At the end of the presentation, students and parents who are still interested in the program will be scheduled for a subsequent private interview to discuss their individual circumstances and to determine their level of need for the program.

"Anyone who wants to be considered for entering the Alternative School at the start of the spring semester needs to attend this forum. Since we work in four-week blocks instead of semesters, we bring new students into the Alternative School monthly throughout the school year," Storm said.
