Bernice Tharps, lead financial clerk for Child Nutrition at the Education Service Center, has been named the 2012 Support Employee of the Year by her peers. The announcement was made this morning at the Education Service Center during a reception that honored all of the monthly Support Employee winners.

"The Support Employee Peer Recognition Committee would like to announce that the winner of the 2012 Support Employee of the Year is Bernice Tharps," said Linda Donelson, chairperson for the Support Employee Peer Recognition Committee. "Congratulations Bernice!"

Tharps was honored as May's Employee of the Month for taking great pride in her work, producing high quality work with few mistakes, looking at problems analytically and being persistent to get the job done correctly and efficiently.

“Bernice is like a breath of fresh air,” said Charlie Bushyhead, assistant superintendent for Support Services. Tharps has learned many duties quickly and efficiently and has undertaken a class to keep up to date on her skills, but more importantly, she serves as a role model to other coworkers on how to work and treat others.
