Enrichment specialist Debbie Snider has been named a finalist for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. She was one of only two area Tulsa teachers to make the top 12 list of finalists.
Earlier this year, Snider,
who teaches at Rosa Parks, was named Union Teacher of the Year.
Snider will be entering her eighth year as a teacher for Union this fall. She has been a teacher for about 30 years.
Calling her student the “Energizer bunnies”, Snider said her students are always excited about learning. Snider said it is her goal to capitalize on that energy and imagination and build a foundation for learning.
State Superintendent Sandy Garrett announced the 12 finalists during her annual Leadership Conference in Oklahoma City.
The winning teacher will be named in September during a ceremony at the Oklahoma State Fair.
That teacher receives tens of thousands of dollars in prizes, plus a yearlong paid sabbatical that allows them to speak about education at colleges, conferences and other events, Garrett said.
