Students from the 6th/7th Grade Center today witnessed a naturalization ceremony in which 37 people from across the world including Mexico, Liberia, the U.K. and the Philippines, were sworn in as citizens during a court setting in the school gym. Principal Steve Pittman and Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt) Daniel Snow were among the special speakers.
The activity was planned as part of the ongoing Week of Remembrance; Union is hosting the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall at Central Park at Union, 62nd and Mingo, which has received thousands of visitors since the exhibit opened Sunday. More than 2,000 flyers were passed out over the weekend. Thousands more expected before the visit concludes this Sunday, September 18. See story.
