Union Seventh Grade science teacher Janie Evans surely had a blast this summer – if not a ‘blast-off.’ Evans was one of four area Tulsa teachers who participated in the highly prestigious 2007 Honeywell Educators at Space Academy program at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.
Evans was among more than 260 science and math teachers from 21 countries and 43 U.S. states on a mission to complete an intensive educator curriculum focused on space science and exploration in addition to participating in real-life astronaut training.
“The Space Academy program is designed to help teachers inspire the next generation to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math, by providing memorable, life-changing science material for their classrooms.” said Tom Buckmaster, President, Honeywell Hometown Solutions. “Honeywell is committed to providing teachers like Janie Evans with programs, experiences and resources that assist in bringing science to life for their middle school students.”
