Union AFJROTC joins forces with Tulsa Shock to raise funds for upcoming Moving Wall Vietnam Memorial visit Week of Remembrance
The Union Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and its booster club are joining forces with the Tulsa Shock, Tulsa’s very own Women’s Professional Basketball Team, to raise funds for a planned visit of the Moving Wall Vietnam Memorial.
The Tulsa Shock is sponsoring its 2nd Annual “Spirit of Service” Night at 7 p.m., Friday, July 8, at the BOK Center to honor those who serve our country. Tickets to the event are $15 and include sideline seating with the group as well as group name recognition on the JumboTron. (The group name on the JumboTron will be “Union Public Schools’ AFJROTC Program”) The Tulsa Shock will donate $5 of each ticket sold to the campaign.
Union Public Schools will host the Moving Wall Vietnam Memorial at Central Park at Union, 62nd and Mingo, September 11-18 as America pays tribute on the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The Union AFJROTC Booster Club is the official sponsor of the event.
The visit will coincide with a charity golf tournament on Monday, August 15, and other events held September 9-19, in what is being billed as a “Week of Remembrance: Celebrating the American Spirit.” The AFJROTC, under the leadership of retired Sr. Master Sgt. Dan Snow and retired Lt. Col. Ron McCool, have been raising funds to pay for the visit for the past year. People wishing to donate funds for the campaign may Sr. Master Sgt. Dan Snow at 918-557-7619.
