The much-anticipated Class 6A championship game has developed into a Redskins rout.
Union is hammering top-ranked Jenks 32-0 at halftime at Chapman Stadium.
An estimated 12,000 fans are braving cold conditions to see either Union or Jenks win Class 6A's gold ball for the 14th consecutive season.
Second-ranked Union (12-1) scored on a trick play on the opening kickoff to set the tone, and quarterback Chase Boyce ran for two first-quarter touchdowns in the battle of south Tulsa rivals.
Fans were barely settled in their seats when the Redskins found the end zone.
Jacob Rice accepted a pooch kickoff at the 24-yard line, threw a lateral across the field to Thomas Roberson. The senior caught the ball and raced down the left sideline 76 yards behind a wall of blockers to make it 7-0 just 14 seconds into the contest.
Jenks (13-0) fumbled on the second play from scrimmage, which was recovered at the Trojans 11.
Boyce scored with a 7-yard run on third down to make it 14-0 with 9:34 left in the first quarter. The quarterback capped a 92-yard drive with a 43-yard touchdown run with 46 seconds remaining in the opening period to push the lead to 21-0.
Jenks seemed to gain momentum with a fourth-and-goal stand at its own 1-yard line with 7:24 remaining before halftime.
It was short-lived, as quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen fumbled the ensuring snap and the Redskins defense racked up a safety.
Cole Way kicked a a 37-yard field goal with 3:34 remaining before halftime to make it 26-0, and running back Colton Dost had a 21-yard TD run with 1:07 remaining to increase the lead to 32-0.
The Union defense has held Jenks to three first downs and 38 yards of total offense. Union has 192 yards of offense.
Union is trying to avenge its only loss this season, a 27-25 setback to the Trojans. The Redskins defeated the Trojans 34-20 in last year's title game.
