Perhaps you have already noticed, but Union Public Schools has re-launched its website – www.unionps.org - with a brand new appearance. The website's new features help make the site more user-friendly and easier to update and manage.
“We listened to what people told us they want in a website,” explained Gretchen Haas-Bethell, Executive Director of Communications, “and I hope they’ll find we heard them. It is now easy to click to specific information, and it is fun exploring what else might be there. While “unionps.org” is packed with useful information---calendars, lunch menus, breaking news, contact information, etc., --- almost every page contains photos of scenes from around the district that make you want to smile. I invite everyone to visit often.”
“The website is the culmination of more than a year of work and planning, and we are pleased with the results,” webmaster Michael Vore said. “However, we are not done. We hope to add additional features in the near future including the ability for teachers to manage their very own home pages and communicate directly with parents. It is very exciting.”
In planning the site, the Communications and Information Technology departments sought the input of teachers, students, parents, administrators, Board members and the general public. The Board of Education also approved an agreement with Triad Interactive, Marketing & Software of Tulsa to evaluate the old site and make recommendations. In February, the Board approved a contract with Triad to re-design.
"We've been honored to work with Union Public Schools to develop a new website for the district. Whether we're working with a small start-up business, Garth Brooks or a large school district, our objective is always to help our clients achieve their goals,” said Brent Lollis, president of the company. “It was important to Union Public Schools to improve the design, functionality and management of their website. The new website has a more modern look, the content is more organized and can be managed easily. We look forward to a continued partnership with Union Public Schools."
Additional changes on the horizon include the phasing-out of Union’s Employee Network through the creation of a password-protected employee area on the new website, allowing employees to access forms such as leave requests from home, as well as re-designed websites for the Professional Development Center and the Union Multipurpose Activity Center
